There are several free legal research websites out there. Here is a list of what we believe to be the best.
1. Justia
This site provides access to a variety of statutes, forms, case law, and statutory law. It is very tech saavy and less bland then the Cornell site below. Our favorite and we think it will eventually top the pay-to-use sites like Lexis and Westlaw. 2. Cornell Legal Information Institute
The search is simple and the site is well categorized. These endless resources include the U.S. Code, U.S. Constitution, Rules of Evidence, Civil Procedure, Supreme Court decisions, and much, much more. A wealth of information. 3. Google Scholar
This is arguably the best free source to research case law. It is easy to use, especially for people familiar with Google. 4. Find Law Find law provides online resources with multiple arraignments. The site has federal, state, and international legal resources. |
